Living at Belamie Gables

Belamie Gables in Spencers Wood offers a warm and welcoming home for older people who require residential care and support. Situated in a quiet village setting on the borders of Wokingham and Reading, the home provides a calm and supportive environment where residents can enjoy comfort, companionship and personalised care. Belamie Gables was the first home to become part of the Eqvitus Group in 2013 and reflects the group’s long standing philosophy of providing a “home that cares”, where every individual is valued, respected and supported to live a dignified and fulfilling life. This approach is guided by the Eqvitus CARER values of Caring, Accountability, Responsive teamwork, Excellence and Respect.

Life at Belamie Gables is centred around creating a relaxed and homely atmosphere where residents feel secure and truly at home. The service accommodates up to 20 residents and offers comfortable bedrooms alongside welcoming communal lounges and dining areas where residents can socialise, enjoy activities and spend time with family and friends. The home benefits from a peaceful village location with pleasant surroundings, allowing residents to enjoy quiet moments outdoors as well as a sense of connection with the local community.

Residents are encouraged to remain active and involved in daily life at the home. Activities are shaped around residents’ interests and preferences, with opportunities for social engagement, visiting speakers, music and trips into the local community where appropriate. Residents also contribute to discussions around activities and dining, helping to shape the environment and routines of the home. Meals are freshly prepared and designed to provide nutritious and enjoyable cuisine with a variety of options to suit different tastes and preferences.

Everything the team does is centred around the individual. Staff take time to understand each resident’s life story, interests and personal routines so that care can be tailored to their needs and preferences. By building meaningful relationships and supporting residents to maintain independence wherever possible, the team helps ensure that every individual feels valued, respected and able to live as full and meaningful a life as possible.

Belamie Gables is supported by a dedicated and experienced care team who are committed to delivering compassionate and person centred care. Staff undertake structured training and professional development, including the Care Certificate and further qualifications in Health and Social Care, helping to ensure residents receive high quality care from a skilled and confident team.

The home works closely with families, local healthcare professionals and community services to ensure every resident receives appropriate and responsive support. By working collaboratively with residents, relatives and medical teams, care plans are regularly reviewed and adapted so that residents continue to receive personalised care that supports their wellbeing and quality of life.

Looking ahead, Belamie Gables has plans for further investment and improvement. An application has been lodged with Wokingham Borough Council for the next phase of development at the home, which will include a comprehensive refurbishment, the creation of predominantly ensuite accommodation and the addition of a further seven bedrooms. The proposals also include improvements to the surrounding landscaped gardens and outdoor spaces to enhance the environment for residents. These plans aim to improve privacy, comfort and the overall quality of accommodation while preserving the warm and homely character of this village based care home.

Meet our Manager: Mrs Jeanine Generoso

Hello, I’m Jeanine, the Registered Manager at Belamie Gables Care Home. I began my healthcare career in the Philippines, where I qualified as a Midwife before progressing into a leadership role as an Operations Coordinator at a private rehabilitation centre, overseeing service coordination and patient care operations.

After relocating to the UK, I worked in a dementia specialist nursing home as a Team Leader, where I was responsible for medication administration and providing specialist support to residents with learning disabilities, early onset dementia and those requiring end of life care.

I am passionate about delivering high quality, person centred care and creating a warm and supportive environment for everyone at Belamie Gables. I always welcome the opportunity to speak with families, answer any questions they may have and support them as they explore the best care for their loved ones.
