Normanhurst
Normanhurst in Maidenhead provides a warm and welcoming home for older people who require residential Dementia care and support. Located in the heart of Maidenhead town centre, the home offers residents the benefit of a peaceful and supportive environment while remaining closely connected to the local community. Grenfell Park and the town centre are both within a short five minute walk, allowing residents and visiting families easy access to green space, local amenities and community life. Normanhurst became part of the Eqvitus Group in 2019 and reflects the group’s philosophy of providing a “home that cares”, where every individual is valued, respected and supported to live a dignified and fulfilling life. This approach is guided by the Eqvitus CARER values of Caring, Accountability, Responsive teamwork, Excellence and Respect.
Life at Normanhurst is centred around creating a comfortable and homely environment where residents feel relaxed, secure and truly at home. The service is registered to accommodate up to 23 residents and offers pleasant bedrooms alongside welcoming communal lounges and dining spaces where residents can socialise, participate in activities or spend time with family and friends. The home benefits from its central location while still maintaining a calm and residential atmosphere that supports wellbeing and independence.
Residents are encouraged to remain active and involved in daily life at the home. Activities are shaped around residents’ interests and preferences, supporting social engagement, music, conversation, creative activities and outings within the local community where appropriate. Residents are also encouraged to share their views on activities and meals, helping shape the daily life and routines of the home. Meals are freshly prepared and designed to provide nutritious, enjoyable cuisine with a variety of options to suit individual tastes and preferences.
Everything the team does is centred around the individual. Staff take time to understand each resident’s life story, interests and daily routines so that care and support can be tailored to their personal needs. Through meaningful relationships and personalised care planning, residents are supported to maintain independence wherever possible while enjoying a safe and supportive environment.
Normanhurst is supported by a dedicated and experienced care team committed to delivering compassionate and person centred care. Staff undertake ongoing training and professional development, including the Care Certificate and further qualifications in Health and Social Care, ensuring residents receive high quality support from a skilled and confident team.
The home works closely with families, healthcare professionals and local services to ensure each resident receives the most appropriate care and support. By working in partnership with residents, relatives and medical teams, care plans are regularly reviewed and adapted so that every individual continues to receive personalised support that promotes wellbeing and quality of life.
Looking ahead, Normanhurst is entering an exciting phase of development. The Eqvitus Group has recently acquired the neighbouring property at 28 High Town Road and is currently progressing plans to integrate and develop the site as an extension to the home. Subject to planning permission and CQC registration approval, this development will increase the home’s capacity from 23 to 31 residents and will provide additional high quality accommodation and improved facilities, further enhancing the environment and care experience for residents.
